MiningWorld Russia Day 2: Tech in mining, focus on gold, and much more

News
As MiningWorld Russia enters its final day today, we take a look back on yesterday’s Day 2 of Russia’s biggest mining industry gathering.

The highlights of the day could be found in the arenas and seminar theatres, with two standout events to help the industry network and share knowledge — one dedicated to technology for gold mining, and another to the use of IT and automation in the mining process.

The Gold and Technology Forum, co-organised by one of Russia’s leading industry publications for gold mining, painted a broad canvas of the industry today. Topics up for discussion included the current legislative base, outlooks for the industry, and case studies of how mining firms have introduced cutting-edge technology to the production process.

The IT-dedicated session — or ‘Days of IT and Automation of Technological Processes in the Mining Industry’ to give its full title — brought together some heavy hitters in the industry, including Olga Sudnitsin, former Technology Practice Lead for BHP’s Global Centre of Excellence. Sudnitsin discussed digital transformation using some of the industry’s leading companies as case studies. Other sessions in the forum dealt with RFID technology, the use of UAVs and drones, digital twin technology, the Internet of Things, and many more.

MiningWorld Russia’s exhibiting companies also got involved in the knowledge sharing — Geobrugg, CADFEM, Russia’s Azottech and Intellect 4G Service all showcased some of their latest equipment and technology to the market.

There’s still time to see what’s on offer at MiningWorld Russia — the show closes at the end of 25th April. If you’re in the industry, click here to get your visitor pass.
